ومن الحب ما قتل: (Hero and Leander and their crazy love story)
Hero and Leander and their
crazy love story. Every night, Hero
fires up a light in her tower so Leander can see the way and swim to her across
the Hellespont. But one night, a storm blows in and the currents of the narrow
strait get all kinds of crazy. To make matters worse, the wind blows out Hero's
light, and Leander gets totally turned around in the dark and stormy waters.
When Hero finds Leander's dead body on the beach the next morning, she just
can't take it. Overcome with grief, she throws herself from the top of her
tower to be with her lover in death
كانت هيرو كاهنة لأفروديت عاشت في
برج في سيستوس (في الدردنيل). كان ليندر شابًا من أبيدوس عاش على الجانب الآخر من
المضيق. وقع Leander في حب Hero
وكان يسبح كل ليلة عبر الدردنيل (هو ممر مائي دولي يربط بحر إيجة ببحر مرمرة Hellespont)
لتكون معها. كان هيرو تضيء مصباحًا في الجزء العلوي من برجها لتوجيه طريقه. ولكن
في يوم عاصف حملت الأمواج ليندر وحالت ان يصل ليلتقي حبيبته فقد ليندر طريقه وغرق. عندما رأت هيرو جثته ،
ألقت نفسها على حافة البرج حتى ماتت قربه
لتكون معه. شهد التاريخ قصة كليو بترا ومارك
انطونيو ووعبلا وعنتر وهذه قصه أخرى انضمت
الى حب التاريخ تستحق النشر، وخلدت على النقوش والنقود
